Government Team of the Year


This award recognises a government legal team that has efficiently upheld legal responsibilities within a government organisation while enhancing opportunities for further growth and legislation.

It includes all employees who make up the legal team for a wide range of government organisations, including state and federal government departments, and accredited agencies listed on the Australian government website.

It is open to in-house legal teams employed by a government agency that has been active for at least two full financial years.

To be eligible for this award, the legal team needs to demonstrate activities undertaken in the 12 months from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018 that have been an asset to the government organisation and wider Australian community.

Assessment Criteria:

Nominees will be judged on their responses to the following:

  • Explain your team’s involvement with government and how this team has contributed to broader society.
  • How did your team handle challenges that emerged in acting on behalf of government in the past 12 months?
  • How has your team demonstrated creativity and lateral thinking to ensure favourable outcomes for the organisation?
  • Provide examples of the initiatives and work your team has undertaken on behalf of the government over the past 12 months.
